It's Official! CD-7 Has A Candidate!

Ruth McClung, Republican Congressional candidate, is officially on the ballot Ruth McClung, Republican Congressional candidate in Arizona's 7th district, filed her petitions on Monday, April 26.  Ruth's signature count was 1358 which gives her more than 3 times the number needed to be placed on the primary ballot on August 24, 2010. There are still some signatures out so she will do an addendum  to her filing, later on in May.  Ruth has been officially running since June, 2009.  After collecting signatures since July, 2009 it was a good feeling to have that important step of the campaign finished. I am so grateful to a number of you for collecting signatures for me! I could not have gotten this many without your help!  Guess who is taking the picture?  It was a bipartisan act! Ruth

Progressive Rep. Alan Grayson (D-FL) isn't giving upon offering Americans a public option.

The congressman on Tuesday introduced the four-page H.R. 4789 "Public Option Act," also called the "Medicare You Can Buy Into Act," would allow all legal American residents under 65 to enroll in Medicare by paying a fee.

Will the House pass this?! Rep. Grijalva wants a public option...

Saturday, March 20, Walk with Ruth to take back the US Congress in Maricopa C0. Meet at Barb Rogers’ house at 9am. Tonopah, AZ 85354 (call 923-556-7393 for directions). Ruth and her campaign plan on covering precinct 224 (Martin) with Ruth’s literature. Barb will have a meet and greet for Ruth at 5pm at her house, after the walk. Please come and help us distribute literature. If you can’t come for the walk, come and meet Ruth at 5pm.

Saturday, March 13, Ruth will be at the Pinal Co. Friends of the NRA - annual dinner starting at 4pm. Location: Pinal Co. Fairgrounds, 512 S Eleven Mile Corner Rd., Casa Grande, AZ 85193

Saturday, March 13 Ruth will be interviewed by the Adam J. Gaub of the Maricopa Monitor at 2pm.

Saturday, March 13, Ruth and her campaign will be in Maricopa City at 9am, to help the Maricopa Republican Club distribute literature for her and other candidates.

Friday, March 12 – Walk with Ruth to take back the US Congress in Tucson. Ruth will be at Wendy’s Restaurant (1440 Valencia Rd. just west of I-19) at noon for lunch. From 1:00pm until 4:30pm we will walk and distribute literature in the neighborhoods north of Wendy’s - the Midvale area. Please come and help us…if Ruth wins, the co-chairman of the progressive caucus won’t be making your laws!

Thursday, March 11, Ruth will be in the studio of Wakeup Tucson on at 6:15am. Listen on AM 1030 KVOI.

Passing along a great piece...

The Sonoran Alliance wrote a great piece in response to the win by Scott Brown in Massachusetts. I'll quote a piece of it here:

Democrats in supposedly “safe” districts should now take heed as insurgent-backed conservative candidates like Ruth McClung and Janet Contreras wage ground-level campaigns against incumbents, ultra-liberal Raul Grijalva, and deeply submerged, Ed Pastor. The best and most tangible consequence of the Massachusetts miracle would be for both these women to receive the full-fledged support of tea party activists and anyone intolerable of the status quo.

So far, Mrs. McClung has received some pretty good support from the Tucson Tea Party. It also appears that she is picking up some support by the Pima GOP HQ as well...What remains to be seen is will she pick up the active support of those within LD25 and CD7 to get her name out to as many as possible before Nov.? Time to lace up the shoes and hit the streets!
